As my campaign winds down and election day is only two days away, I wanted to send you a few thoughts and reflections.
I am proud of the continual bi-partisan support that I have received from the many elected officials and business leaders in this community who know that I will be an effective, ethical, and independent voice for this District: Sheriff Leon Lott, Senator Joel Lourie, Senator Vincent Sheheen, Representative James Smith, Representative Bakari Sellers, Representative Mia Butler Garrick, Solicitor Dan Johnson, Mayor Steve Benjamin, Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine, Ben Arnold, Todd Avant, John Baker, Peter Brown, Mary Kennemur, Jodie McLean, Daniel Rickenmann, Crawford Sanders, Pete Strom, and Don Tomlin.
I entered this race to make a difference in our leadership and to help better our community and State. I am just like all of you. I am a wife, mother, and more importantly, a concerned citizen who is disturbed and embarrassed by the headlines that so often come out of the State House.
We continually read about arrests, indictments, and investigations of our public officials. There are two very important things we can do about this ethics epidemic at the State House.
Number one – New Leadership.
Number two – Tougher ethics laws.
We have some of the most lax ethics laws in the country. This is why our State was ranked as one of the most corrupt states in the country.
I will work tirelessly to not just talk about ethics reform, but I will be a crusader to end the corruption at the State House. To me, this isn’t just a political campaign. This is about the future of our community and State.
Everyone says how dirty politics can be, and I now understand that it is worse than I ever imagined. I have refrained from personal and petty attacks but rather have focused on making our leaders accountable for their records as our representatives.
I am a wife, mother, business owner, attorney, and concerned citizen. I will bring a new independent voice; a voice with integrity, character and strict ethics. I am running not for myself but for my children, your children, our community and our future generations.
Again, I truly appreciate all of the support and encouragement I have received from you and from our community at large.
I would be honored to have your vote on Tuesday, November 6!
All my best,
